Featuring the only Monster in Cutesville, LOVE MONSTER is a wonderfully warm and witty look at how sometimes, when you least expect it, love finds you… From a phenomenal picture book talent。

It can be tough being the only funny-looking Monster in Cutesville, but this Monster is not one to hang around and feel sorry for himself, so he’s off – out into the big wide world to look for someone to love him。
He looks high, he looks low and he looks everywhere in-between, but it’s only when he’s just about to give up that he finally finds what he is looking for…

Featuring an instantly charming main character who will appeal to children and adults alike, LOVE MONSTER is a warm and witty tale about the power of taking action from a terrific talent new to the HarperCollins list。

This is an adorable little book。 It makes you commiserate with the monster right from the start and has a cutsie way of saying things that makes it stand out in a good way。 It’s quite exceptional for a board book。 My only issue is that the writing is a really good at the beginning but then gets a little too thin by the end。 If it had ended with the same bang it started with, this would be on our favorites shelf。 Artwork: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Writing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Educational: ⭐️⭐️Message: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Popularity*: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is an adorable little book。 It makes you commiserate with the monster right from the start and has a cutsie way of saying things that makes it stand out in a good way。 It’s quite exceptional for a board book。 My only issue is that the writing is a really good at the beginning but then gets a little too thin by the end。 If it had ended with the same bang it started with, this would be on our favorites shelf。 Artwork: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Writing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Educational: ⭐️⭐️Message: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Popularity*: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fun to Read: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️*how often my kids and I seek this one out specifically。 。。。more

I love the monster's lists and belongings。 The text reads a lot like I talk normally - kind of matter-of-fact, kind of quirky。 I love the monster's lists and belongings。 The text reads a lot like I talk normally - kind of matter-of-fact, kind of quirky。 。。。more

My 4 year old loves this book and the stuffed monster that goes with it。 She is convinced the other monster at the end of the book is his sister。 🤣

A great story for younger kids that shows there really is someone out there for everyone, even hairy monsters。

I mistakenly bought this thinking it was a continuation/spin off of Anna Llena's Color Monster book because the monster looks very similar。 Instead, it is a story about a monster that lives in Cutesville and isn't loved because he's "funny looking" and so he sets out to find love。 The moral of the story is that love finds you when you least expect it but I don't like the emphasis on not being loved by others because he wasn't physically as cute as other animals。 Not really the message young chil I mistakenly bought this thinking it was a continuation/spin off of Anna Llena's Color Monster book because the monster looks very similar。 Instead, it is a story about a monster that lives in Cutesville and isn't loved because he's "funny looking" and so he sets out to find love。 The moral of the story is that love finds you when you least expect it but I don't like the emphasis on not being loved by others because he wasn't physically as cute as other animals。 Not really the message young children (especially girls) should absorb。 。。。more

This book is just plain adorable! Both the colorful sweet illustrations and the story。 Here we have a monster who is feeling pretty unloved。 He's not loved like kitten, puppies, and bunnies or other "cute, fluffy things。" So he goes looking high, low, and middle-ish for someone who'd love him。 Spoiler alert! in then end when things are getting dark and feeling a bit scary, he finds a sweetheart when he was least expecting it in "the blink of a googly eye。" High recommend to older toddlers and pr This book is just plain adorable! This book was super cute and I loved the illustrations but I felt like there could have been more to this story。 I didn't like how the monster never really accepted himself for being different, he just met another monster that looks like him。 It is a cute book that I think most kids would enjoy but I feel like it had a lot of missed opportunities to teach lessons about self-esteem。 This book was super cute and I loved the illustrations but I felt like there could have been more to this story。 I didn't like how the monster never really accepted himself for being different, he just met another monster that looks like him。 It is a cute book that I think most kids would enjoy but I feel like it had a lot of missed opportunities to teach lessons about self-esteem。 。。。more

My wife and I don't like this book, which was a gift, at all。 Emily, our daughter, has recently started asking us to read it on her own, and we oblige with disclaimers。 At first blush, the moral of this story is that there is love for everyone out there。 But it's told through the lens of a "funny looking" monster, and "nobody loves a slightly hairy, I-suppose-a-bit-googly-eyed monster。" So the real message of the book is basing who and what we love entirely on their outward appearances acceptabl My wife and I don't like this book, which was a gift, at all。 Emily, our daughter, has recently started asking us to read it on her own, and we oblige with disclaimers。 At first blush, the moral of this story is that there is love for everyone out there。 But it's told through the lens of a "funny looking" monster, and "nobody loves a slightly hairy, I-suppose-a-bit-googly-eyed monster。" So the real message of the book is basing who and what we love entirely on their outward appearances acceptable。 And it is normal for the monster to be unloved and feel unloved because he's not as cute as a bunny。 The Love Monster goes on a journey to find someone to love him。 His attempts at finding love strike out when he tries to love a puppet that looks like him, his shadow and his reflection, which are horrendous narcissistic metaphors。 The quest nearly ends in a fit of dark depression that is lifted only when he finds another monster who looks exactly like him。 That monster is driving the bus he plans to take home after his seemingly failed quest。 Contrast the lesson of no one loves ugly and different with that of "Charlie and Emma" in which Charlie is admonished by his mother for gawking at Emma who needs a wheelchair。 "Different isn't weird," Charlie's mother tells her son。 "Different is different and that is OK。" Charlie becomes good friends with Emma even thought she is different。 That is the message we should be giving our children。 I'm not going to tell Emily I won't read the book if she asks for it, but I do use it to make the point that the monster shouldn't be shunned for the way he looks and he shouldn't have to undertake a long quest to find someone to love him just because he's different。 。。。more

Love monster is a touching story written and illustrated by Rachel Bright。 This monster lives in Cutesville, a town where everyone is cute and cuddly, and is seen as bad and ugly due to his different appearance。 Since he feels out of place, Love Monster sets off on a journey to find someone who will love him despite his exterior。 He looks in many places, and feeling deflated, he returns home。 When boarding the bus, he sees someone who looks like him, and appears to be looking for love as well。 T Love monster is a touching story written and illustrated by Rachel Bright。 This monster lives in Cutesville, a town where everyone is cute and cuddly, and is seen as bad and ugly due to his different appearance。 Since he feels out of place, Love Monster sets off on a journey to find someone who will love him despite his exterior。 He looks in many places, and feeling deflated, he returns home。 When boarding the bus, he sees someone who looks like him, and appears to be looking for love as well。 This book is meant to be read aloud to younger readers and is beautifully paired with bright big illustrations that show his journey。 Older readers would enjoy the illustration and hidden signs on the pages。 This book also comes with sequels following Love Monster。 。。。more

I kind of adore this book! The idea of being different and not fitting in (which reminds me of Begu) is important to teach children about acceptance, respect and diversity。 The pictures are really quite thought-provoking and there are a range of happy and sad ones which is vital to the emotional response of the audience。 I ‘read’ the pictures as well as reading the words because they were very effective and fitting。 There are many moments where teaching opportunities come into play such as love, I kind of adore this book! LOVE MONSTER is not very cute -- he is a little bit funny looking which makes it hard to find love when everything around him is so cute and fluffy。 So he decides to go on a quest to find love and looks everywhere until night falls and he has "lost all his oomph, decided it was time to give up and go home。" Then something surprising and wonderful happens。。。the last line of the book。。。"You see sometimes when you least expect it。。。。love finds you。"The version I read was in boardbook format。。。which LOVE MONSTER is not very cute -- he is a little bit funny looking which makes it hard to find love when everything around him is so cute and fluffy。 So he decides to go on a quest to find love and looks everywhere until night falls and he has "lost all his oomph, decided it was time to give up and go home。" Then something surprising and wonderful happens。。。the last line of the book。。。"You see sometimes when you least expect it。。。。love finds you。"The version I read was in boardbook format。。。which would be perfect for snuggling up with before bedtime。 And I personal adore LOVE MONSTER in his red fur, big heart, and even bigger googly eyes。This is the second book with this character that I have read。 I started with LOVE MONSTER AND THE LAST CHOCOLATE which is still one of my favorite books。NOTE: The font used in the book is very special with matching the feel of the book (which includes lots of hearts inside the "O"s and might make it hard for new readers to follow。 。。。more

Somehow this book ended up on my audiobook hold list。 I listened to it twice。 I was thrown off the first time。 I wasn’t expecting a children’s book。 I have to say it’s a cute story for adults and children。 We can’t for e anyone to love us。 We can’t “search” for love。 We have to love ourselves before love can find us。 We have to be open to receive it。 This has all been simplified for a child。 I would love to see the actual book。 I hope the illustrations do it justice。

So cute! I love the ending :)

Normalizes hurtful judgements of physical appearance and implies that only people who look like you (or are socially unacceptable in the same way as you) will love you as you are。 I know this wasn't the intention, but that's the vibe and I hated it。 Normalizes hurtful judgements of physical appearance and implies that only people who look like you (or are socially unacceptable in the same way as you) will love you as you are。 I know this wasn't the intention, but that's the vibe and I hated it。 。。。more

Eh。 Kids bully the monster bc it’s different and hairy and ugly。 And then the monster decides that it has to find love in order to be happy。 And then I thought maybe the monster would come to find out that it loves itself and that’s important。 But instead finds another Monster to love。 So eh。 I think that love and having a relationship can be important but it shouldn’t be the thing that “fixes” you。 It shouldn’t be the thing that makes you feel worthy when other people are bullying you。 So eh。
